The 805-acre Chapman State Park includes the 68-acre Chapman Lake on the West Branch of Tionesta Creek. Adjacent to state game lands and Allegheny National Forest, Chapman is an oasis of recreational facilities in a vast area of wilderness. In addition to the trails at the park, Chapman is the trailhead for backpacking trails on adjoining public lands. Map and trail information is available in the park office. Free parking is available at the park for those who would rather not leave their vehicles along public roadways.

Hiking Chapman State Park
By dayhiker9312B on Dec 14, 2014 trail review rating icon - 4 stars

Chapman State Park is my favorite PA state park although I am a little biased as it is the closest one for me. The park is always well maintained and pleasant to visit. There are over 12 miles of hiking and cross country ski trails that are easy to follow. For those that say 12 miles is not enough, you can hike into the adjoining PA State Game Lands No. 29 or enjoy the Allegheny National Forest which pretty much surrounds the area. For a real experience in the park, hike a combination loop going clear around the lake using the Hunters Ridge Trail, the Adams Run Trail, the Game Land Road, the Lowlands Trail, the Nature Trail, the Lumbar Trail and the Penny Run Trail. Pick up maps at the office or online and have a good time.
